Save Nandi the orphan Rhino

Nandi’s mum was found poached on the 26th November 2015. It was soon apparent to the investigation team that the poached rhino had a calf. After two days of searching, rescuers found the calf, who was named NANDI.

Nandi was scared, weak and very dehydrated, but the rescue team managed to capture her and transport her to the Fundimvelo Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage in Kwa Zulu-Natal, South Africa.

Nandi is a Critically Endangered black rhino and was about 3 months old when she was rescued.  She has formed a very tight bond with another black rhino calf named Storm and both are doing very well.

Nandi will need ongoing food, milk, bedding, veterinary treatment and the love and attention of her carers until she is 3 years old.

This treatment and care costs £10,000 a year, and at The Savanna we have teamed up with UK charity Helping Rhinos (registered number 1155309) to raise enough funds to care for Nandi for one year.

Please help us keep Nandi alive by making a donation to our SAVE NANDI campaign – thank you for your support.
