This Warwick Estate release offers serious Pinotage from a renowned Stellenbosch site, crafted for drinkers who value precision over power. Handpicked fruit, careful cellar work and considered maturation create a wine that suits collectors, diners and gifting in equal measure. It is a confident example of modern South African Pinotage with clear ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of black tea, ripe strawberries, sour cherries and cola tonic lead from the glass. The palate is bright and fresh, showing dark berry, sour plum and cassis characters carried by finely packed tannins. The texture remains smooth, with a soft, persistent finish and a lingering fruity aftertaste. Recommended ageing is three years or more from the vintage.

Why You’ll Love It

Low yielding bush vines on the Simonsberg mountain and handpicked fruit underpin the quality of this wine, giving a naturally concentrated core. Fermentation in stainless steel with early pressing is designed for a refined structure, followed by about fourteen months in French oak, only a small portion new, for measured complexity rather than overt wood.

Ingredients

Pinotage grapes (100%).

Allergens

Contains sulphites.

Storage

Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, ideally on its side to keep the cork moist. Aim for a stable, moderate cellar or cupboard environment to protect the wine over time.

Serving Suggestion

Serve at cool room temperature, in the mid to upper teens Celsius, as you would for a structured red. This Pinotage is particularly well suited to roast duck dishes, richer poultry and game birds, as well as other savoury mains with moderate intensity.
